BiG Staff

Erin Kiltz: Executive Director

ErinBio
Erin Kiltz is the founder and Director of Brookwood in Georgetown (BiG). BiG is the first extension of The Brookwood Community in Brookshire, Texas.

Prior to moving to Georgetown, Erin co-founded His Grace Foundation with her husband, John, in 1998, a nonprofit organization that provides physical, emotional and financial support to patients and families on the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit of Texas Children’s Hospital. She also co-founded Wheels of Fun in 2006, a company that creates custom spoke guard covers for wheelchairs. Each of these endeavors was inspired by the youngest of the Kiltz’ three children, Gracie, who was born with Down Syndrome, battled leukemia, and was left with severe brain damage after serious treatment complications.

Erin’s love for her daughter and family, combined with her years of experience in nonprofit management and development, interior design and education make her a true visionary who has brought a “future and a hope” to our BiG citizens through her creativity, endurance and compassion.

She gives all glory and honor to God for giving her the privilege of contributing to the BiG mission. Recently, she has discovered there is no greater joy than being a grandmother(GiGi) and spending time with Talitha, Caleb and Faye.

Kimberly McPhail: Executive Assistant

Kimberly McPhail comes to BiG with over 40 years of work experience ranging from city government to corporate work to higher education. Her varied work experience, organizational skills, multi-tasking ability and love for people make her a perfect fit for the BiG team. On day one Kim fell in love with the Citizens of BiG and the organization’s mission.

Kim grew up with three sisters in a military family. She lived in Japan, California, Florida, North Dakota and ended up in Texas. Her oldest son currently serves in the US Air Force.

Kim has a long history of volunteering with Meals on Wheels, Love and Care Ministries and her church.  She served as a mentor to many young college women and men while working in the Athletic Department at Hardin-Simmons University and supporting the athletic teams.

Kim enjoys the serenity of the beach and the fun of kayaking. Her favorite activities are spending time with friends and family and helping others. Kim’s greatest loves are her faith, her sons, Lance and Luke Huston, and her two grandchildren, Oakley and Tatum. She also enjoys her little dog, Criquet, and carries her everywhere!

Jennie Thollander: Program Director

JennieBio
Originally from Charlottesville, Virginia, Jennie moved to Austin, Texas in August 2013 to be closer to family and join the team at BiG. Jennie first began working with folks with special needs at a summer camp during college, where she worked first as a camp counselor and then as an Assistant Director. Jennie was forever changed after her first week there, and since then has wanted to do nothing else.

After graduating in 2008 from the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, VA with a degree in Psychology and Religious Studies, Jennie moved back to her hometown of Charlottesville. She has since worked in special education, therapeutic recreation, and adult services both residentially and at a state supported day activity center. Before leaving Virginia Jennie was a volunteer with Charlottesville’s Young Life Capernaum, a ministry to youth with special needs.

When not at work, Jennie loves to read, hike, and spend time with her parents, brothers, and their families, many of whom have also recently relocated to Austin. She is very involved with her Church, loves to travel, and can often be found seeking out live music in her free time.

What does Jennie love about our citizens? She describes them as fun, hilarious, loving, and insightful. They continually inspire her and she loves being on this adventure with BiG!

Anne Muilman: Citizen Coordinator

AnneBio
Anne has worn many hats during her time at BiG! She has a business background, most recently as the payroll and human resources staff for the Monument Café. When Anne was looking for a change, she looked in Brookwood’s direction. Initially a volunteer, Anne became part of the BiG staff in June of 2013. Although Anne has no direct ties to the special needs community, she quickly came to love each and every one of the citizens. Although her job keeps her going in many different directions, she loves to hang out with the citizens whenever the opportunity arises.

Anne was born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She met he future husband on an airplane going to Mali, West Africa on their way to begin two years serving in the Peace Corps. After her marriage, she and her husband headed to Austin, then on to Georgetown. They now have three teenagers and five pets – down from a high of twelve if you count the chickens!

Between working and raising three teenagers, Anne tries to fit in time to read. She loves to camp and hang out with her family. You might find them sitting in their driveway ‘doing tea’, a remnant from their days in Africa. For stress relief, Anne loves to mow the lawn!
